Experiencing Interruptions?

Fall

Francisco wants to disappear. Leonor wants to belong to him. She knows that without him the stars no longer make sense.

"Fall" portrays a relationship on the edge and demonstrates the insistence on solving problems, even when resolution is no longer a hypothesis.

Director Biography - Vasco André dos Santos

Vasco André dos Santos (Porto, 1997) finished his studies in Light, Sound and Scenic Effects at the Academia Contemporânea do Espetáculo in 2016 and due to his interest in the 7th Art, in 2018 he decided to study Directing at RESTART - Instituto de Criatividade Artes e Novas Tecnologias.

He has worked with creators from different artistic areas, namely with Jorge Quintela, Tânia Dinis and Mariana Cardoso as cinematographer.

In 2019 he directed some filming sessions of the project "As contradanças e quadrilhas enquanto património cultural imaterial na região duriense" produced by NEFUP - Núcleo de Etnografia e Folclore da Universidade do Porto under the program EDP Tradições.

"EXTREMUS", his first documentary short film, directed with Cristóvão Costa and Sara Allen, premiered in the second edition of the Ocean Coast Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Portuguese Short Film.

"Fall" is his first fiction short film. He's currently working on the documentary "Process" filmed in January 2020 and in two other short films, "When" and "We", that together with "Fall" are part of the "When We Fall" Trilogy.

Director Statement

"Fall" it's about being at a dead end. About using silence to protect those we love. About accepting that when it comes to feelings, we need to be honest, even if it hurts.
