Bud Powell is one of the most important figures in the history of jazz. He revolutionized jazz piano in the 1940s and 50s and laid the foundation for modern jazz piano. BUD LIVES! is a love letter to Bud and a celebration of his music.

Director Biography - Haeyong Moon

Haeyong Moon is an independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She produced & directed BROADWAY TREASURES (2019), her first feature documentary about a subject matter close to her heart, movie theaters. She completed her second feature documentary about another one of her passions, jazz.

Director Statement

I've been a fan of Bud Powell since I discovered his music in college. It was love at first sight, or more accurately, at first listen. This film is a culmination of my love for Bud - his music, his artistry and the beautiful world he paints with his playing.
