Jaicheng Xai Dohutia was born in the Indian state of Assam. He studied film and video editing for three years at the Jyoti Chitraban Film & Television Institute in Guwahati. "Jolsobi," his Indo-German co-production second film, had its world premiered in the New Director's Competition section of the 45th São Paulo International Film Festival. Baghjan, his most recent feature, was selected for the "Goes to Cannes" segment of the Marche du Film.
I am honored to present our latest film, a powerful narrative based on a tragic real-life incident. This story unveils the heart-wrenching aftermath of a devastating oil site blast that engulfed an entire village, leaving destruction and environmental havoc in its wake. The incident, rooted in truth, sheds light on the catastrophic consequences when corporate negligence collides with human lives.
Our film delves deep into the lives of the villagers, portraying their resilience and struggle in the face of unimaginable adversity. Through compelling storytelling and poignant fiction and non-fiction visuals, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of safety measures and corporate responsibility. It is a stark reminder of the environmental impact that can result from the failure to uphold stringent safety protocols.
As a director, I was profoundly moved by the real-life accounts of those affected. It became my mission to translate their experiences into a cinematic masterpiece that not only entertains but also educates and inspires. We have meticulously crafted every scene to evoke empathy and understanding, urging the audience to contemplate the far-reaching consequences of corporate negligence on both humanity and our environment.
This film is not just a portrayal of tragedy; it is a call to action. It compels us to question the ethics of corporate practices and advocate for a world where safety, environmental preservation, and human lives are valued above all else. I invite you to join us on this emotional journey, to witness the strength of the human spirit, and to stand together in the fight for justice and accountability.
Thank you for your support and for embracing the power of cinema to ignite change.
