Charlie Parkin is a passionate film-maker with vivid ideas and a strong, pragmatic approach to achieving his vision. With strengths in VFX and editing, his directing style takes these aspects into consideration, allowing him to drive a project from pre to post-production to great affect, with no element falling short.
'Bad Beat' is the brainchild of watching too many Westerns. The film is set entirely around a card game in a saloon. The idea was to tell a Western story, at much lower stakes than gunslinging duels and revenge, opening up the door for pastiche and parody, while still taking itself seriously enough to tell its tale; a tale of David and Goliath, of gamblers and underdogs, of liars and cheats.
