Director Biography - Magnus Adamsen, Tara Salas

Tara and Magnus first met each other on the set of a feature film, that was shot over the span of two weeks in a house far out in the country in Denmark. Magnus had just finished the script for 'Avalanche' 3 days prior. When Tara read it she instantly decided that she wanted to direct it with Magnus.

They like each others previous work (Tara: 'Intoxication' (2021), Magnus: 'Fortunate Son' (2021)) and they like working together as well.

Director Statement

Avalanche was shot a while ago, but took forever to get through post production because there wasn’t any money left to pay people. That also means that I’ve changed a lot as a person since then, but I can still very much look back at Adrian (the main character) and see why he came to life.

The film is a very personal first-hand look at how I felt at the time, overthinking every little thing, whilst also being really really depressed. That sparked me to write something about how depression makes us look so very thoughtless and empty, where it’s actually, in my experience, a very overwhelming and wild thing to go through. Someone once said in a film I can’t remember the name of, that depression is like walking on a bunch of knives all the time. You’re not lifeless when you’re sad. It hurts. A lot. All the time. I like that description.
