Khashayar (born in Tehran, 1994) is a cinematography student at Art university of Tehran. He started making stop-motion short films and then continued to work on low-budget amateur live-action projects. His recent short film "28 Percent Pure" has been screened at more than 20 festivals around the world and won two international awards.
Apophis started as an idea for a feature film. The main story was about a man who decides to stay in an abandoned city which is close to a massive asteroid impact. His encounter with a rescuer leads them to discuss the very nature of surviving, life and death. The movie was supposed to be at least 70 minutes with a lot more side characters and stories.
As I was working on my final BA project, I decided to shot a shorter version of what I had in mind. Apophis is now a 13-minute long film that has an essence of the main story and takes place in the same space with the same main characters.
