ANiMA
Sociology student Rose joins her actor fiancé on a remote cabin-in-the-woods creative retreat with hopes of inspiration for her thesis. Working and living with the eccentric theatre troupe, she becomes a de facto member. As personal and group tensions rise, the troupe receives stunning news: a radiological event has occurred and the end of the world is near. What devolves is a delirious meditation on gender, power, and creativity.

Adam von Carr is a multi-hyphenate film director. He is a current Directing Fellow at the American Film Institute Conservatory.
Von Carr is a graduate of Orange Coast College, where he served as Artistic Director for the OCC Student Theatre Repertory, and CSU Long Beach, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Film Theory & Practice. Following a DIY ethic, he has directed multiple short and feature films, enjoying play from the Art Theatre Long Beach to Newport Beach Film Festival.
As of 2023, he wrapped photography on his third feature film, a horror-drama titled “ANiMA,” slated for the festival circuit.
ANiMA is a film which examines the mechanisms of a creative group; the dynamics of power and gender within. On top of that, ANiMA is an examination that is without walls — pure unfiltered reaction.
We shot the film in 10-days in a cabin outside Cascade, ID, for $5000 on equal parts elbow grease, insanity, and credit card debt. I finished the film in Athens, GA while a graduate student at the University of Georgia.
Aesthetically, I take heavy influence from contemporary psychological-horror films as well as transcendental and slow cinema of the '70s. Thematically, much of the underlying ideas and mythology relate to early psychology and psychoanalysis in the 20th century, a sort of Wild West era as it relates to these fields from which many fascinating hypotheses were suggested about the nature of the human mind.
