Director Biography - Raakesh Rawat

I am Raakesh Rawat, an Indian filmmaker, born in a small village and raised in the capital. Growing up, I found solace in watching films on Doordarshan, which sparked my fascination with cinema. Storytelling always intrigued me, but I never imagined it would one day become my calling.

My journey began when I joined a Media Institute for my graduation, where I discovered the art of filmmaking. During my master’s degree in cinematography at a film institute, I wrote Midnight Delhi. Driven by a passion for meaningful storytelling, I moved to Mumbai, working across various departments on diverse projects. Eventually, I directed my debut feature film, Midnight Delhi, which went on to win multiple awards and solidified my place in the industry.

Director Statement

In this film, I wanted to explore the delicate, often heart-wrenching space where love, duty, and identity intersect. The protagonist's journey is not just his own—it’s a reflection of countless individuals living dual lives, trapped between their authentic selves and the roles society demands they play.

As a storyteller, I’m drawn to narratives that challenge the status quo, and this story is one such challenge. This short film is a reflective experience—one that invites the audience to sit with unspoken truths and unanswered questions. I believe in the power of cinema to evoke empathy, and this story is an attempt to bridge understanding for those whose lives often remain unseen.
