Arpith Kandlakunta is an emerging filmmaker, passionate about crafting character driven narratives. With a background in editing and cinematography, he brings unique visual and emotional depth to his projects. Aditya marks his first short film, exploring themes of ambition, love and self reflection. Through a blend of naturalistic and stylised cinematography, he aims to create immersive cinematic experiences that resonate deeply with the audience.
"Some choices define us, some choices break us, and some choices give us a second chance."
As a filmmaker, I am drawn to character-driven stories that explore the depth of human emotions, and Aditya is a deeply personal project for me. At its core, this film is about ambition, self-destruction, and redemption. The journey of a young man who must confront his flaws to rebuild what he has lost.
Cricket is more than a sport; it’s a metaphor for life, struggle, and resilience. In Aditya, the game serves as a backdrop to explore the protagonist’s inner turmoil, relationships, and ultimate quest for self-discovery. I wanted to depict not just the highs of victory but also the crushing weight of failure, both on the field and in life.
Visually, I approached Aditya with a blend of naturalistic and stylized cinematography, using controlled lighting to shift between realism and heightened emotions. The film’s color palette evolves with Aditya’s journey, subtly mirroring his state of mind, from vibrant energy to muted isolation, and eventually to hope.
This film is for anyone who has ever felt the weight of their past choices and wondered if they could start again. It’s a reminder that redemption is not given, it’s earned.
I hope Aditya resonates with audiences and leaves them reflecting on their own choices, relationships, and second chances.
