In the realms of art and faith, "immortality" was once a divine pursuit; yet in our ecological reality, it has become nature's most profound curse. This film unveils a landscape utterly reconstructed by indestructible man-made materials, where life does not vanish but is forced into a distorted rebirth, clad in polymers that will never decay. As whales struggle for breath beneath suffocating oil slicks and polar bears wander across synthetic glaciers, our discarded waste infiltrates the very flesh and soul of the future. This is a visual elegy on the "man-made eternal" versus the "fragile biological." When our trash achieves a morbid immortality, the vibrant spirits of the earth become mere sacrifices in this undying, plasticized horizon.

Chih Hao Shen is an animation and documentary filmmaker whose work explores human existence, memory, and time through restrained visual storytelling.
His debut work received recognition from Rhode Island IFF. His short film 10 Seconds was selected by In The Palace, Fantasporto, and Asolo Art Film Festival (2026). His documentary YinYang Sea won the Grand Prix at Asolo Art Film Festival (2026).
His projects have been presented in international industry contexts, including Clermont-Ferrand, Visions du Réel, Cannes Short Film Corner, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, and Oberhausen.
Beyond filmmaking, he has worked in visual design and digital product development, including licensed merchandise design for The Lord of the Rings franchise in the Chinese-language market, visual work at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and founded and leads a software development company developing animation and visual effects tools within the Apple ecosystem.
In this experimental short, I explore the morbid and irreversible connection between human civilization and the natural world. To manifest this reconstructed reality, I employed a mixed-media approach. We captured a vast array of discarded waste, plastic bags, and decaying man-made polymers through live-action cinematography, gathering the visceral textures and ambient noise of environmental decay. These elements were then integrated with meticulous CGI, transforming cold plastic films into breathing, organic forms. This collision between physical reality and digital illusion serves as a metaphor for an ecosystem being consumed by its own waste. My goal is to use this visual dissonance to force the audience to confront the haunting, synthetic future we are collectively creating.
