We still have a lot of aging to do

Without knowing all details, a young girl tells a story that happened many years before she was born. The old tale tells the story of a woman named Alma, who was left stuck inside her house, all alone. Tired of only looking out the window and longing to go outside, she decides to build her street inside her house.

Director Biography - Bruna Schelb Corrêa

Born in Cataguases - MG, Bruna Schelb Corrêa acts mainly as screenwriter, director and editor. Majored in Arts (UFJF 2015), Journalism (FESJF 2016) and Cinema (UFJF 2017). Currently a Doctoral student in the Arts, Culture and Languages program at
the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), with a research focused on screenplay and the use of surrealist and dadaist games in the creative process of cinematographic narratives.

Writer and director of feature film Imo (2018) that debuted at the 21st Mostra de Cinema de Tiradentes, a major Brazilian film festival, at their main category, Mostra Aurora. Imo has toured more than thirty national and international festivals, as well as movie clubs across the country.

Writer of A brave Idea, a developing project, selected in 2019 to the 10o Brasil CineMundi - International Co production Meeting, where consultancies from distributors, producers and writers from all over the world were imparted to both the project and writer.

Writer, director and editor of short film Life Remains (2019), awarded an honorable mention at the 2nd Latin American Short Film Laboratory (2017) and recipient of fundings for production at the Usina Criativa do Polo Audiovisual da Zona da Mata public contest. Upon its first run the film was awarded the Best Film Prize by the Jury, Best Film by Public Vote, amongst four other technical prizes (FVFF, 2019). Currently, the film has toured nationally and abroad, amassing 10 technical awards.

Writer and director of Vamccupy (2017), conceived and shot inside a student occupation at a federal university rectory. The short film was awarded the José Sette Trophy (that goes out to productions that are inventive as well as with a low cost) and received an honorable mention at the 17th Festival Primeiro Plano Mercocidades (2017). It was also awarded Best Film by Public Vote at the II MOCINA (2017).

Bruna has written and directed 1 feature film and 10 short films.
Certified teacher by the Cinemathèque Française in the program “Cinema: 100 ans de jeunesse” to instruct young students of public schools to write, product and shoot films. During the courses Bruna has supervised the writing and production of two short films by the students: The disgrace of the poor and the silver trumpet (2018) and Rescuing the Tower (2018), that were released and shown internationally.

Founding partner of the production company Filmes do Mato, that has its headquarters in the outbacks of Brazil, at a small town called Cataguases - MG, Bruna Schelb Corrêa tries to find the fantastic and dreamlike qualities that exist at the countryside
to develop her narratives and try to show a part of Brazil that isn't seen much: the one that is
away from the big urban centers.
