Your Silence
Filmed at the Rio Grande do Sul State Public Library in Porto Alegre, "Your Silence" merges Andrea Barrios’ original spoken poem with excerpts from Marin Marais’ “Folies d’Espagne” (arranged and performed by Alexandre Ritter on double bass with gut strings and a Baroque bow). A lyrical short film on silence, presence, and emotional resonance.

Alexandre Ritter is a Brazilian double bassist, director, and researcher whose work bridges music, poetry, and cinema. His films explore silence, memory, and embodiment through historically informed musical performance and poetic language, often merging sound and image as a single expressive gesture.
Andrea Barrios is a writer, screenwriter, and literary and sworn translator. A member of the Academia Literária Feminina do Rio Grande do Sul, she is the author of the short story collections "Ao menos um descanso / Al menos un descanso" (2018) and "Os sete sorrisos de Catalina América" (2024), as well as the novels "Albertina Belmonte" (2022) and "Olhar de meia-noite" (2025).
A library where words and music emerge as gestures of listening, and art finds its meaning even in silence.
