Director Statement

When my friend Julian (LAVOLA) first pitched me the concept for this music video and told me he wanted to develop it together, I jumped at the opportunity. The idea of living with your ghosts, spirits that guide you through the mundane every day, it intrigued me. I was interested in the way we must confront and learn to shape that energy, how it can take us to dark places if we don't. This is the experience of moving on, but never losing touch with our history -- we were talking about a layered story that showed the small ways it "haunts" us, for better or for worse. These themes resonated with me so deeply. So I went to work, and for three months Julian and I developed the details of this story, and we searched for the perfect location to tell it in. The result is a cheeky, but contemplative video that we are happy to present to the world.
