Ashley Obinwanne is a Black lesbian writer and filmmaker who was born in New York and raised in Nigeria. She enjoys writing grounded, character-driven, dramas and dramedies about interconnected groups of people. Her TV pilot HONEY LAND made the Top 100 list in Launchpad's 2025 Pilot Competition. Her recent works include the stage musical Better Off With You and the web series You Can't Stop the Beet, the latter of which was an official selection at Charlotte Black Film Festival, All The Laughs Comedy Awards, and Orlando Urban Film Festival in 2025. She resides in Los Angeles, and has worked on shows at Apple TV+ and CBS.
Emma Cones is an actress and dancer who was born and raised in Los Angeles. She completed the Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors in 2022. She has also trained at the Ivanna Chubbuck Studio, The Robey Theater, and Groundlings.
Ashley and Emma are married and they co-wrote and co-directed You Can't Stop the Beet. They are excited to share it with the world.
