Director Biography - Emily Rose Sanderson

Emily Sanderson is a multidisciplinary artist and director.
With a background in music and theatre, her creative process has developed to include an intrinsic physicality. She works in two and three dimensions interchangeably, approaching style and material with an "anything goes" mentality.
Following a philosophy that considers problems to be couriers of creative outcomes, no two projects appear exactly the same in contents, genre or aesthetic. The consistent through-lines of her portfolio are tactility, fluidity, and experimentation.
Off the back of recent creative and collaborative successes and the recent completion of her Master's degree in Animation, Sanderson has now turned her focus to directing and is taking her first steps into the wider landscape of professional filmmaking.

Director Statement

Created with an intuitive process, this film is an exploration of both material, and an aspect of my own human experience. It is not intended to be examined or understood through descriptions of its meaning and message. Instead, I encourage audiences to dissect and interpret this film as individuals.
'Worm' is an experience as much as a film - tactile, unsettling, and intended to evoke a strong emotion.

Any strong emotion will do.
