Wizard Grandpa Stories
Wizard Grandpa Stories is a YouTube web series in which Wizard Grandpa tells stories from all over the world, one in each episode. These are traditional stories told in a traditional way, which means that Wizard Grandpa addresses himself directly to the viewer, as if they were in the same room, together. The aim of this series is to give children the chance to experience storytelling as if their own grandpa were telling them the stories. While these stories are aimed at children, grown-ups can enjoy them too, quite possibly remembering their own childhood.
So far on YouTube there are two seasons. Season 1 is complete at twenty episodes. Season 2 is still growing, having seven episodes to date.

I decided to create “Wizard Grandpa Stories” as a web series because I felt that there was a need for it, and because I saw that there was a gap in the market, which is to say, no-one else is doing anything like it.
The need for it arises from the fact that most children’s entertainment these days is based on over-stimulation, over-excitement, and over-the-top colours and sounds. In fact, children can be happy with much lower levels of sensory experience, and in “Wizard Grandpa Stories” I have set out to prove this.
I have used natural colours, natural environments and natural speech to re-create the experience of an older relative telling a story to youngsters. It could be in the context of a bed-time story, or of a story around or in front of a fire. However we’d like to remember it or imagine it, stories have been passed down from one generation to another for centuries, and I would like to give this experience to children of the modern generation, in case their own parents or grandparents were (or are) too busy to pass on this tradition.
“Wizard Grandpa Stories” web series is not meant to replace traditional storytelling, but to encourage it. If children enjoy seeing and hearing these stories, they may remember to do the same for their children when the time comes.
