Born in Caracas, Venezuela. Diego Marquez aims to deliver a sardonic viewpoint of the world through film.
He is a Bard College film graduate, having received mentorship from film industry luminaries such as Kelly Reichardt, Charles Burnett and Lisa Krueger. He is best known for “Savages!” (2021) and “Lights Off” (2022)
In 2017, I woke up from a terrible nightmare. It was a suffocating, humid night, and I still remember the horrible feeling of drenched bed sheets clinging to my skin.
In a daze, I instinctively reached for my computer and began writing. Without ever stopping to think about what I was doing, I wrote the script for what eventually became this short film. I think it is an encapsulation of many emotions I was drowning in at the time. I still don't remember what exactly I was dreaming about.
