Director Biography - Le Nguyen

Le Nguyen, a filmmaker, TV producer, journalist in Vietnam.

He attended BERLINALE International Film Festival 2017 as the representative of Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF 2016) after winning the Grand Prize for The Best Talent of the 4th HANIFF Campus, and an official guest invited by the Federal Government of Germany.

In 2018, he was chosen to be one of 250 filmmakers to join BERLINALE Talents, the World #1 Cinema campus/networking platform. His film project, “My Wife is a Prostitute. And I give her rides to work.” was presented at Short Film Station to filmmakers and production houses around the world.

He won the 2nd-Best Short Film of 2013 at "Life through Film" Festival by Vietnam Cinema Association.

His films have so far joined in competitions, exhibitions and been screened at 30 international film festivals and cultural events around the world, from Southeast Asian countries to Japan, India, United Kingdom, Sweden, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Kosovo, Germany, Italy and USA.

His outstanding “Talking to My Best Friend” documentary was exhibited in Sweden, at the Museum of World Culture (Gothenburg) and Ethnographic Museum (Stockholm) from 2015 to 2018.

In 2022, he successful produced and directed “Who Am I? Who I Am!”, the very first sport biography feature-length documentary in Vietnam. This film qualified into World Championship Final - SPORT MOVIES & TV 2023 – 40th MILANO INTERNATIONAL FICTS FEST, as well as a Finalist in International Sport Film Festival Slovenia 2023, Official Selection in other events (International Sports Film Festival Prishtina 2023, International Sports Film Festival Prishtina 2023, Lisbon Sport Film Festival 2023, Da Nang Asian Film Festival 2023, Vietnam Kite Awards 2023).

He has been teaching arts of filming in Vietnam University of Fine Arts since 2015.
