Writer Statement

Writing allows me to create my own world. This manufactured world is a weave of my own personal life, American history, gay culture, and the African American experience. Through film and screenplays, I can present the world I want and a world I would like to reside in - if only for about two (2) hours. It is the world as it could be and most times should be.

I have allowed the writing process to be a way of emptying myself. Transposing my thoughts, experiences, and desires onto characters, scenes, places and time. It is a journey to tell a unique story. Writing is making and creating the real world from my own imaginary world driven from my own real experiences in the shared world. The result is true fantasy yet another version or interpretation and representation of the 'American Dream.'

For White Ceiling, my personal life and Filmmaker aspirations led me into the art world as a Curator. These experiences provide the framework and generate the stories, characters, and conflict unfolding in White Ceiling. It is a very complex world most are not creative enough to endure.
