Director Biography

I'm from Gilgit Baltistan, a region abundant in culture and stories needing global attention. There's a lack of tech familiarity, especially among women, hindering fields like filmmaking. Witnessing climate change and women's empowerment issues inspired me to highlight local challenges worldwide. I enrolled at KIU, our region's sole university, and began crafting films. Despite being only two females in class, we tackled these issues and I recently placed second in a World Tourism Day film contest. Now, as a final-year student, I aim to amplify our region's stories and empower women. I also founded an organization called SHEleads through which I spotlight successful females, teach storytelling to local businesses led by females and preserve our culture through films. Familiarizing with technology is crucial for addressing our challenges. My goal is to showcase voices of Gilgit Baltistan's hardworking people and stunning landscapes to the world.

As a filmmaker, my mission is to empower and financially support the women of Gilgit-Baltistan, breaking the stereotype that this field is solely for men. I aim to bring more women into this industry, showcasing their stories at an international level. My focus lies in motivating marginalized women, using storytelling as a tool to not only empower them but also elevate their businesses. Join me in reshaping narratives and creating opportunities, as we pave the way for female voices in the filmmaking landscape of Gilgit-Baltistan.
