My name is Karma Tsultrim Lama, and my life's journey has been a remarkable transformation from a remote village in Upper Dolpa, Nepal, to becoming a Master of Animation. Born into a humble peasant family with limited resources, my early years were marked by challenges and uncertainties. However, a twist of fate brought me the opportunity of a lifetime, and I seized it with determination and gratitude.
I hail from the picturesque Karang Village in Upper Dolpa, a region known for its remote and rugged terrain. Growing up in this isolated environment, I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and the importance of community bonds. My family's modest means were supported by my father, a talented Thanka artist, who instilled in me an appreciation for art and creativity from an early age.
My life took an unexpected turn when Lama Tensin, a compassionate soul, visited our village. His arrival marked a turning point in my journey. Lama Tensin recognized my potential and, in an act of incredible generosity, sponsored my entire education and accommodation, enabling me to pursue my dreams.
With Lama Tensin's support, I embarked on a path of education that would shape my future. I dedicated myself to my studies, with an unwavering commitment to making the most of this life-changing opportunity. I pursued a Bachelor's degree, and my thirst for knowledge led me to Chandigarh University.
In 2022, I proudly graduated from Chandigarh University with a Master's degree in Animation. This achievement marked the culmination of years of hard work, sacrifice, and the belief that dreams can be realized even in the most challenging circumstances. My education broadened my horizons and deepened my passion for the world of animation.
Today, I am a freelance graphic designer and content creator, using my skills to bring art and visual storytelling to life. My journey from a remote village in Upper Dolpa to the world of animation and design.
I created this film to shed light on the challenges and narratives of the Upper Dolpo region on a global platform. Hailing from this remote area myself, I carry a profound responsibility to initiate positive transformations in my homeland through the power of cinema. Through this documentary, I aim to showcase the resilience of a region in the face of adversity, a place adorned with stunning natural beauty and hope that the world will join us in our journey to bring about positive change.
