When a Circle Decides to Not be a Circle Anymore

The film portrays Peggy, a 29-year-old Iranian American transgender person suffering from a sexual identity crisis and wanting to end a romantic relationship. She has been abused by her boyfriend and struggles to inform him of her decision. The story represents a person with no exact gender identity who walks away from her car toward an uncertain destination. The symbolic elements like the square tire, shoes, road, abandoned car, forest, etc., are all trying to support the idea of this metaphorical change.

Director Statement

The narration in this film involves itself with a two-folded philosophical meaning. On the one hand, the film portrays a transgender person who finds herself in a sexual identity crisis. On the other hand, she epitomizes a rebellious woman who ends an emotionally abusive relationship. At the film’s last moment, she changes her heels to men’s shoes and leaves her car. In addition, the dominant color blue symbolizes her melancholy, fears, femineity, and past.
