When You Find the One
This short doc was made in honour of the 20th anniversary of the legalization of same sex marriage in Canada. It follows the stories of senior queer couples who chose to marry. It is a celebration of queer love, a glimpse into love in old age, and a celebration in memory of those we love who have passed on.

Stella Racca (she/they) is a young queer filmmaker based in Toronto, Canada. She graduated summa cum laude from York University in 2023 with a BFA in Film Production and a minor in Human Rights and Equity. They are passionate about cinematography, production design, and directing narrative and documentary films. She loves making music videos too! For her, one of the most compelling things about filmmaking is doing so from a queer perspective.
Her work has screened at Inside Out, the Gender Equity in Media Festival in Vancouver, BIPOC International Film Festival, Prague International Film Festival, YOUKI International Youth Media Festival, and Cinestesia Fest.
This film is so meaningful to me. Looking back, it is surreal that the law on same sex marriage only came into effect 20 years ago. Getting to meet the brilliant people who helped fight for queer rights and took a leap of faith in getting married was so magical. I've made life long friends in making this film.
