When I see you

The film "When I see you" depicts life in Berlin from the perspective of a mirror. Thereby it presents three stories which explore relationships to oneself and to others.

The film treats themes that circle in the German capital through a mix of realism and parody. Its experimental way of shooting creates a level of intimacy and simplicity that captivates the viewer by visual confrontation of what is there, as a mirror does.

"When I see you" offers a distinctive view on the complexities of human connections and conditions of multi-cultural characters in current Berlin.

Director Statement

My journey began with animation direction and evolved into a passion for cinema, reflected in the visual poetry of my works. My films and music videos explore human emotions and cultural contexts, influenced by early silent movies, 90s pop culture and my interest in the human body, psyche and nature.

I experiment with color and rhythm in editing and camera work, exploring their impact on viewers. In "When I see you," I used static cameras and scene cuts to explore cinema's visual possibilities.

I use breathing techniques and Eastern practices like yoga in working with actors, aiming for natural performances through improvisation. My art seeks to understand the world, evoking emotions and sparking dialogue. It connects with cultural, historical, and social contexts, blending various artistic forms to create unique cinematic experiences.
