I have always been interested in off-beat characters whether that be in real life or in films. I like to combine my day-to-day interactions and place them in strange worlds in between reality and fiction. As I am very new to directing there is still a lot I can learn, however, I feel I am building my own style both visually and in terms of performance. I am very excited to continue making films and collaborate with other talented people.
Wheels of Fortune for me is a story about being weighed down. Eddie is weighed down by his dysfunctional relationship with his father, the burden of the store, and at points himself. I wanted to create a sense of nostalgia throughout the film to create a sense of tragedy. If the store hasn’t changed in 50 years how will the fortune of Eddie and his father. The film snowballs as Eddie’s belief in himself deteriorates, resulting in his crazed performance in the commercial. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed bringing it to screen.
