Laura Alice is an artist, mentor and film-maker who specialises in community collaboration and empowerment.
Her multi-disciplinary practice delves into esoteric story-telling, archetypes and human rights. She was awarded the 'Women in Community: Human Rights and Gender Equality' award for her work.
For many years she has collaborated with the Bluebird Foundation Inc. to create cutting-edge outcomes for diverse and disadvantaged groups, aimed at enriching the cultural fabric of her community.
A collaboration between an amazing group of young people from culturally diverse backgrounds and artist/film-maker Laura Alice.
Over a series of creative sessions, the group met to paint, draw, ask questions and have deep discussions - exploring ways to talk about mental health in a holistic, human and culturally accessible way.
The end result pairs the paintings and writings of the young people with the hand-drawn overlays of Laura Alice, edited and animated into this beautiful and soulful educational film about what it means to look after your mental health.
Translated into 6 languages, the film aims to find bridges and connections to talk about mental health in many different settings and cultures.
Supported by funding from Western Victoria Primary Health Network through the Australian Government’s PHN Program.
With Thanks to Bluebird Foundation, Wellways, City of Greater Geelong and Diversitat for their funding and support.
