What Color is Blue

A black trans woman and her partner sabotage a tech startup that pops up in their city, but in doing so send a lone technician through some kind of artificial gap in space and time. From here, the two live in the hellish paranoia made in the wake of their attack against the future. They don’t act in order to save the world from a monolithic thing and become larger than life heroes. Instead, the straw that breaks our backs is Blue's visualization of the banality of everyday life: medical bills, legal trouble, work, slow death. It's the small daily deaths that best communicate their state--our state--of things to us.

Director Biography - Carman Spoto

As a video artist, Carman Spoto has strived to push the medium to its furthest extents, where narrative cinema and experimental cinema intersect, and to create visual representations of time and
memory in lieu of traditional storytelling processes. As an anarchist, Carman expounds political praxis and theory into her cinema in order to contextualize societal issues and demonstrate personal(political) responses to them.
