Best Prop: The Cake
Matthew has made and been involved with film all his life. Beginning with childhood home movies where he, his brother Paul and his cousins, would make horror movies on a Hi-8 video camera. Their father Lew would take them to a local video store and rent movies on VHS. Along with his older brother, Matthew would spend hours looking through all the films in the rental store. This is where Matthew began shaping his personal tastes in movies. It would not be until Matthew got out of high school where he took a few film classes at his junior college and began to get serious with film. His short film 'Removal Notes' stands as the mark of his first time venturing into and being accepted into film festivals. Taking a D.I.Y. punk attitude and being influence by not only films but also independent music, Mathew is hard at work making short films, music videos and eventually a feature length film. With a dedicated cast and crew; and absolutely no-budget Matthew hopes that their hard work can be seen and hopefully appreciated during their entire journey.
When Kendy was a teenager, she was always searching for a VHS to rent from the store down the street. Something that she could watch by herself at night and then write about in her diary. Movies much like her beloved books made her feel less alone. She never thought about making a film not even decades later when she met her boyfriend Matt who was making short films. She has always been happy making zines, taking photos, reading books, making playlists – very introverted stuff. She always liked inserting her opinion in Matt’s projects or doing behind-the-scenes stuff but only ever kind of flirted with the idea of anything more.
