Dysfunctional siblings Lily, Alex, and Freya just lost their dad. What follows is a very chaotic, frustrating, and somehow comedic funeral. This short highlights the importance of family, shows how people grieve differently, and it's ultimately an attempt to bring a bit of relief to the subject.

Director Biography - Corey Holl

Corey is a budding filmmaker who's always active in projects for his friends and for himself. After an early fascination with Lego and architecture, his high school A/V club ushered him into communication arts such as filmmaking, photography and graphic design. For his entire life, all he's ever wanted to do is to be creative and be one with the trees.

He recently graduated from UW-Madison and is now co-running Cut The Deck Creative. His goal is to be able to write & direct films that are fun to watch, can relate to everyone, and have a layer of satire and nuance for people to dissect.

Director Statement

About two years ago, my dad told me about a half-sister that I had somewhere out in the world...

I guess my reaction was to imagine a world in which our lives were intertwined from birth and how that would have affected my family and our relationships.

I have a sister that I've had a pretty complicated past with, and this film is almost certainly a product of that. I imagine most people have family ties that aren't easy to navigate and that's why it felt so important to make this short.

Funnily enough, after the script was written and we were in full pre-production mode, my half sister found us via DNA testing, and we now all have a great relationship, we're even going on a vacation together soon.
