Hayden Huynh is the director and co-producer of We Can Be Heroes. Graduating with a Bachelor of Film Production and now working full time as a Versioning Promotions Producer at Channel 9, Hayden niches in directing and producing in independent film.
The idea for this documentary has been in fruition since Jan 2021 and it has been a fulfilling creative process of filming and editing over the past year. He really wanted to make a documentary that shows differently able people that they can be heroes of their own story in the realm of sport. The Heroes With Ability Charity has been had an intimate relationship with him as his aunty is one of the clients who attend the programme in which it has been inspiring and heartwarming to see.
In 2020, his team made an intimate documentary called A CUP OF JOSIE which showcased Josie’s aspirations within ability diversity in the workplace. Knowing in the future, he wanted to do a another follow up documentary to showcase and celebrate different abilities on a larger scale.
The documentary showcases the co-founders George and Marco, and their experiences and stories with the Heroes with Ability charity. Hearing their stories and witnessing first-hand experiences was inspiring not only for them but for the clients of the charity. He’d like to personally thank his crew and family for their hard work throughout the whole process. Without them, none of this would have happened and he is grateful and proud of the things that they have achieved!
