Wasp nest in volcanic mud

Many cosmogonic myths associate the creation of life with dust, mud, clay, in the belief that humans are formed from the same substance as the earth itself, and that our existence is closely tied to the cycles of nature.
The telluric energy that forms the mud into new ground is echoed in the construction of a wasp nest perched between the branches of a tree.
The threat of the air creatures with their poisonous sting is matched by the instability of the Earth’s surface.
Caught between the buzzing sky above and the bubbling mud below, we defend our existence in the face of danger and slippery uncertainty.

The two landscapes - the muddy volcanic ground and the wasp nest in the tree - only come together in the film, as they are 2600 km apart. As are the reflections in the water, or the images within the craters. The film brings together opposed realities : bubbling mud and buzzing wasps, with the sensation of sound and image to create anew
