Wasm
"Wasm" is about a woman with mysterious marks on her forehead who helps a vulnerable child in a post-apocalyptic world. As their journey unfolds, she faces a difficult choice between ensuring her own survival and taking care of a child. The themes ”Wasm” explores are morality and ethical decision-making.

Loujain Alzahrani is a faculty member in the Animation and Filmmaking program at Princess Noura University and is a distinguished artist and researcher with an MFA from Pratt Institute in Digital Arts and Animation and a BA in Motion Graphics from Dar Al Hekma University.
Her approach to media studies results from looking through a multifaceted academic lens that explores moral and cultural perspectives. She treats her audience’s emotions with care, believing that empathy is the most powerful tool for communicating complex themes.
In my work, I am interested in exploring themes that revolve around cultural identity and morality. I am particularly intrigued by the role empathy plays in how an audience perceives morally complex characters. My ultimate goal is to create works of art that entertain, provoke thought, and inspire action. I aspire to use animation as a medium to foster empathy and understanding and to encourage others to reflect on the impact of their choices and actions on others.
My latest project, "Wasm," tells a complex and powerful story that delves into complicated moral and cultural issues such as empathy, sacrifice, and human nature. It is a testament to my belief that narratives have the power to reshape our perspectives and challenge societal norms.
