Warnes, the shelter
Analia and Carolina recall their childhood in the late 80´s in Buenos Aires, living in the Warnes Shelter — an abandoned building that was nearly completed and originally intended to be the largest pediatric hospital in Latin America. It was later evicted and imploded in 1991.
The story unfolds through the imagination and lived experience of two girls: how they ended up in that building, what their lives were like, the government-organized relocation using garbage trucks, the implosion, and ultimately, what Warnes came to mean to them.
