Warhead: The World Is No Longer Ours
When the monsters arrived, the warheads were launched. Almost a decade later, former police officer Pilar fights for survival in a devastated world, clinging to the fragments of hope she still has left, while a new purpose blossoms in her heart. Between alien creatures and men without sanity, Pilar’s great conflict remains in her own head: What’s the reason to keep fighting?

Cadu Rosenfeld is a filmmaker and cinematographer who has been active in the industry since 2009. He has built a diverse portfolio spanning live-action films and animation.
In 2025, Cadu adapted the Brazilian comic Ogiva, published in Brazil by Pipoca & Nanquim.
Cadu wrote and directed several short films, including Don Javier, which screened at international festivals. It was officially selected for the Almeria Western Film Festival (AWFF)—one of the world’s premier western film events—and won a prize at the 14th Cinefantasy International Fantastic Film Festival.
His animation experience includes work on the award-winning Brazilian feature Uma História de Amor e Fúria, as well as contributions to Disney’s The Princess and the Frog and Chico & Rita, both nominated for Oscars. As a cinematographer, he earned the ABC Award in 2016 for his work on the short film Terra Roxa.
Warhead: The World Is No Longer Ours was born from the union of two deep passions: cinema and comic books. A passion for extreme worlds, fantastic creatures, and solitary characters facing the absurd. My love for science fiction, horror, westerns, and dystopian stories has always been accompanied by an equally intense desire to make films in Brazil — and that’s where the dream meets the abyss.
Making films in Brazil is already an act of resistance. Making a low-budget, independent,
post-apocalyptic feature filled with alien monsters is almost a delusion. And yet, we decided to move forward. That’s why this film is a creative outcry against the limits imposed by lack of funding, lack of resources, and, often, lack of belief in Brazilian genre cinema.
I couldn’t and didn’t want to try to simulate the scale of a blockbuster with a small budget. Instead, I chose to focus on what truly matters: atmosphere, tension, characters, mise-en-scène. The result is a film that looks at the end of the world through Brazilian eyes. A desolate world, yes, but also one that is visually rich, textured, and carefully crafted — where every creature, ruin, and shadow was built with care and intention.
Warhead was made with less than one-fifth of what is considered a low-budget film in Brazil. We received an initial boost through public cultural funding. Then, powered by the fan community of the original comic, we went further: we launched two crowdfunding campaigns, one of which became the largest in the platform’s history for an audiovisual project.
Warhead is micro-budget cinema with the soul of an epic.
My hope is that this film will be seen as an act of faith in the strength of Brazilian genre cinema. And that it may inspire others to dream big, even with little
