Waiting for Pino
'Waiting For Pino’ is a short film about letting go and setting yourself free. The surreal black and white film takes us into the quirky world of the lead character, Pino (Noah Valentyn), who is in the last days of a tortured relationship. A series of run in ends with a mystery man and a traveling performance artist, giving him the strength to find himself and set himself free.
‘Waiting For Pino’ is actor and photographer Noah Valentyn’s directorial debut, shot on an iPhone in New York. After 8 years of living in New York and Los Angeles Noah Valentyn started to write the script to explore the art of moving around and living in the big cities. Themes in his work are the relation of the individual and life in the city, and the expectations and challenges in life.
Back in Amsterdam, in the end of 2015, Noah was invited for his first individual exhibition, presented in the W Hotel, the Cultural Embassy of the Lloyd Hotel and Amsterdam Gallery. After that he was commissioned by the Public House of Art in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum for an art-project. This work is now travelling around the world and represented in the Public House of Art. In the heart of the Pijp you can find his own Art Gallery and Studios from where he works on a variety of projects. As actor he had several leading roles (‘Schnitzelparadijs’, ‘Scar Tissue’, ‘Het Leven is Vurrukkulluk’) but also he directed and filmed several music videos and documentaries.
Noah knows how to touch the spectators heart and how to make them aware of the strength and power you experience when you follow your heart and stay true to yourself.

Noah Valentyn, is a Dutch actor, born and raised in Amsterdam. He followed the School for Youth Theatre 'Rabarber'. After school he studied at the Amsterdam School for Drama and Contemporary Music Theatre. Valentyn played the lead and different roles in Dutch and international theatre, films and popular tv series.
In 2008 Valentyn moved to New York to develop himself as photographer. He followed an internship in the studio of James Bidgood, who is the main inspirator for photographers like Pierre&Gilles and David LaChapelle. He also did an internship at Andy Warhols Interview Magazine.
In the US, Valentyn worked as model and played in commercials and films. Together with Lyle Derek he was the initiator and organiser of the weekly underground party called ‘Drop Out’ in New York. Different renown and unknown bands and artists performed in these popular events, including Debbie Harry (Blondie).
In 2012 he moved to Los Angeles where he worked and studied at the Stella Adler Academy. He played the lead in ‘Priscilla’, a short festival film by Raphael Chatelain. He also worked for director Randal Kleiser (‘Grease’, ‘Blue Lagoon’).
In 2014 Valentyn moved back to New York and started working on his own short film, called ‘Waiting for Pino’. An IPhone project, completely shot on an IPhone. A poetic silent movie. In the meantime Valentyn played a role in the Dutch movie ‘Hartenstraat’, directed by actress and director Sanne Vogel, filmed in Amsterdam. In this period he starts rethinking about his future and life and struggling in big cities like New York and Los Angeles.
In 2015 he moved back to Amsterdam to start his own photography and film studio. He works for projects like ‘Who Cares’, films and produces music videos of Sjors van der Panne and documentaries, broadcasted on different online channels. Next to that he continues working as an actor.
He played the starring role in the international award winning 'Scar Tissue' (a film by Nish Gera) which is shown in shortfilm festivals all over the world; Europe, US, China, India.
In 2018 Noah featured in the Dutch movie 'Het Leven is Vurrukkulluk' (Frans Weisz, Remco Campert).
After selling my camera to pay my own rent, I didn't want to give up on making this project happen. I decided I would make this entire project with barely any money, on an iPhone and things I found on the streets of New York City. The movie is about letting go of things that are not good for you. But as we sometimes do in life, we hold on to people, things and situations. Sometimes even on dreams that can't come true. This movie is a fictitious yet an emotional and realistic journey of the story I want to tell and my own journey through the process of making this movie. I hope that you as the audience will take part as this experiment of just learning to let go and to let all the images and music come to you, for this is a silent film. So lets be silent and let our eyes, ears and the heart do the talking.
