When The Mist Clears

A drama, romance set in Italy.

Isabella is a disconnected, damaged and angry young women who's life was shattered at 13 when her Italian mother died of cancer. Her successful British father Frank who harbors a painful secret, chose to lose himself with work and outsource her care and upbringing to nanny's, tutors and eventually therapists.

Many years later Frank had remarried to a wonderful Italian women named Claudia, who manages to convince Frank that they all need to get away from work, the city, internet and spend a month close to nature on a remote Italian country estate and hopefully disconnect to reconnect.

Director Biography - Cengiz Dervis

Cengiz Dervis was born in England and trained in the martial arts from the age of 5, competing extensively (former world kickboxing champion, martial arts master). He trained as an actor initially in London continuing with classes, courses and workshops in New York and LA. Learning his craft working in student films along with fringe theatre before taking the lead in several award-winning festival short films and expanding into film and TV roles.

Given he's knowledge, experience and skills, Cengiz has also coordinated on screen action in a few film and TV projects. He also writes and produces content and has several film and TV scripts at various stages of development along with a few books released, others underway and some original music on iTunes and Spotify (Cengiz, Cengiz Dervis, Strode Road).

Director Statement

Having spent years making short films whilst working on original scripted content including a few feature films and two TV series ideas. I was surprised that my unscripted although heavily outlined feature 'When The Mist Clears' with character backstory's and scene by scene breakdowns was the first to be green lit.

So, during a pandemic and all the hurdles that presented, we pulled together a fantastic cast and crew from the UK, US and Italy, assembled in Vicenza, Italy were we quarantined together and shot my debut feature 'WHEN THE MIST CLEARS'

Post-production was handled mostly by Onsight in London although the edit was done in Milan by our wonderful DP / Editor Johnny Carrano and the original score was created by Daniel Raijman over in Los Angeles and the film also includes five of my own original songs.

An absolutely crazy challenging adventure and I'm extremely proud of all involved and the film looks simply beautiful.
