Csaba Székely is an amateur, independent film director and editor, born on April 5, 2002 in Budapest. He won national first place at the National Talent Scout Student Media Competition in 2017 with his short film „Signal”. After that he became a member of the DUE Media Network.
In 2020, his 3-minute short film „Day 42” was selected as one of the 10 best films at the MagentaFilm Hungarian Mobile Video Festival. As a result, it got an official selection at the Humanitarian Cellphone Cinema Awards Virtual Marché du Film, in Cannes, named after Professor Karl Bardosh, organised by the World Peace and Tolerance Institute - AFI World Peace.
In 2023, it was awarded a honorable mention at the 5th A Mi Kultúránk Short Film Festival.
His latest film, „Vital Sign”, was released in 2024.
My number one goal in making this film was to bring the style of the golden age of old cinema back to life again. I have always been a fan of the black and white, noir thriller films that defined filmmaking from the 1930s right up to the 1960s.
Secondly, I wanted to make a film that many people could identify with. After all, we have all experienced fate, break-ups and even the death of a loved one at least once in our lives. Each person copes with these events in a different way, it is easier for some and harder for others. In this film, the viewer witnesses something from the other extreme.
