Vipas

The word Vipas comes from 'Vipassana' which most importantly includes observation of sensations without involvement of oneself. The film portrays moments in which protagonist 'Saru' meets her past while in a deep thought process during her evening walk. She leaves her home with the door open and as she approaches the oceanside, memories of her boyfriend and long time love 'Prashant' come to her mind.
Prashant, an independent thinker, a merchant navy aspirant and happy-go-lucky person seeks an open relationship with Saru with no signs of commitment. Throughout the evening, Saru is able to objectively witness her memories with Prashant come and pass by her mind, while at the same time she tries to understand the sensations behind them.
As the evening progresses to dark, her husband Sudhir and daughter Tanu come searching for her along oceanside. Saru realizes that reality is different than her thoughts and she apologizes for getting lost in her world, Sudhir kindly ignores it. On the way back, Sudhir recites a story to their daughter, Tanu, of Buddha (Tathagat) and Anand muni (Saint) and asks provocative questions about it.
The story gives a message of 'letting go of burdens of past' indirectly advising Saru about the evening. The film 'Vipas' ends up pulling viewers closer to the characters & ultimately sheds light on Saru's varied emotions through the process of observation.
