Director Biography - Russel Álvarez

He was born in the city of Guanajuato, Gto on July 1, 1979. As a writer, he began to stand out in 1993, winning the Literary Prize of the "Eulalio Ferrer" Foundation in the "Escenas del Quijote" contest, in the state of Guanajuato. Later in 1995, he specializes in writing screenplays and theatrical scripts, generating the children's play "When the winter comes", set in the city of Gto. by the children's theater company of the University of Guanajuato, under the direction of Rita Gutiérrez. In 1997 he directed the workshops for the staging of the play "Necromedia", as part of the Altern-art program of the University of Guanajuato. As a screenwriter and director, he also started in 1997 with the short film "Durante el secreto de la noche", shown in the F I C edition of the same year. In Mexico City, he founded the collective "Manojo de Hediondilla" in 2002, creating multidisciplinary shows of a social nature and writing and directing instructional videos, such as "The Attack of the Purkinjes" for the faculty of veterinary medicine of the UNAM. In 2009 he also joined the Westbridge University film school as a teacher to teach the subject of script analysis and character development. From the acting workshop for cinema, he generated the short film "Dicen que los sueños" with his students, writing the script and carrying out its realization. His most recent shorts are "A que no ...", also with his own script, and the video clip "La Cumbia del Asesino" by the musical group Otesanek. In 2011 and 2012, he directed the musical theater workshops of the Children's Actoral Training group of the University of Guanajuato, giving the acting class and taking the stage direction of the project to generate the implementation of the project "over a year and a half" Musical". In 2013 he writes and directs the video clip "El Tour de tus Ojos" for the Balkan music group Balka-Nour and writes the scripts for the children's series "Bomber Squadron", produced by Saltillo Coah's board. In 2015, he made his debut film "El que Vendrá", a feature film of the horror genre, taking the credits of scriptwriter, director and author of the project. Recently, in 2017, he was named "Guest Director" by the Fantastic Film and Horror Uarhini Festival, in Patzcuaro Mich. and wins the first place in the short film festival "Film Horror", from GIFF Sn Miguel de Allende with "Dressed in White", short film from Guanajuato produced by Lab // KinoRoom.
