Ebba Jahn graduated from the Film and TV Academy Berlin (DFFB) and has worked as a 16 mm filmmaker and cinematographer, her documentary jazz film Rising Tones Cross being the best known.
She moved to New York City from 1991 until 2010, where she studied again on the side towards a BA in Fine Arts.
Back in Germany she participated in group exhibitions, made DVD productions, video installations, and was curator and organizer of the traveling art exhibition PAPER PAIRS with abstract artworks by 20 intl. artists including her own from 2017-2019.
2018 her focus shifted to the creation of short video collages with original sound and contemporary music, own and found footage, artworks, photos and poetic texts.
Collaborations with other artists developed. Her experimental, musical, documentary- and poetry films are shown by film festivals, art exhibitions, and video program Mopomoso TV, for which she is working regularly.
In 2021 the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe has awarded Jahn a juried work scholarship for female film/video makers in Berlin which encouraged the creation of the award winning 67 min. cinematic music film IDEA – Miniatures by Improvisers 2022, followed by Video Edition I and now VIDEO EDITION PAVILION

Director Statement

This edition was inspired by The Wrong Biennale 6, 2023/2024 where I was accepted as a curator with the idea for this project:
Musical art videos, a reminiscence to video art in connection with improvised music by experimental musicians I had worked with.
