Director Biography - Alessandro Cubicciotti

Alessandro Cubicciotti (Bucharest, Romania, 1979) was born to an Italian father and a Romanian mother. He lives in Bucharest where in 2010, he graduated from the “Hyperion” Cinema University with a Bachelor of Arts in “Directing, Film image and Television”.
"Ușa" (2012) is his debut and currently only short movie, which he wrote, directed, edited and co-produced.
Among his other activities, he collaborated with “Pygmalion”, an acting school for children and teenagers in Bucharest (2011), he made several internal corporation clips for Ubisoft Bucharest (2016-2017) and he’s also the author of an Anime Music Video, “Shadows of the night” (2023), which was presented out of competition at Otakuthon 2023, Montreal's largest Anime Convention, in Canada.

Director Statement

"Ușa" ("The door") is a movie about mental rigidity, about believing that in order to solve a problem there is only one solution: the one we know. That's why the main character of the movie is trapped into a mirrored dimension.
