Director Statement

Ur So Sweet is my most prized possession. It takes inspiration from my favorite childhood movies (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Wreck-It Ralph) while tackling deeply personal and universal struggles. Growing up as a gay man, I often felt like I wasn’t enough. I always thought I was inferior to others and desperately sought validation—whether for a film I wrote, a role I played, or simply for being me.

As I grew older and entered the hyper-sexualized gay world, I started seeking validation through hookup culture. This obsession consumed me, making me fixate on my body, appearance, and how others perceived me. While I always gave consent, I often allowed things I didn’t truly want because I believed my worth was tied to others' pleasure.

Ur So Sweet explores the pain and pieces of ourselves we give away when our self-worth hits dangerously low points. It shows how we mold ourselves to be 'palatable,' sacrificing our true selves for people who don’t care about us. But it’s also a story of healing—of reclaiming self-respect and finding the strength to value yourself beyond others' opinions. For me, this story is a reflection of my journey toward self-love and self-worth.
