Rachel Handler (she/her) is a director, producer, writer, and actor known for her stint as Peg Leg Doris on AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire” and her award-winning Slamdance shorts “Committed” and “HOW MUCH AM I WORTH?” Other acting credits include, “New Amsterdam,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “NCIS: New Orleans,” “Best Foot Forward,” and “The Upside.”
Handler became an amputee after a tragic car accident in 2012. She believes deeply in the power of stories to create social change and is passionate about healthcare and human rights, particularly within the disabled community. She won the AT&T Underrepresented Filmmaker Award for “Committed,” Best Writer for “Unlucky in Love,” Best Awareness for “The Vanished,” and Best Actor for "Disabilities" in the Disability Film Challenge, Best International Film in Focus on Ability for “Andy & Kaliope” and she won the Sundance Co//ab June Monthly Challenge for “Derailed.”
Handler has been accepted into the Docs in Progress/FWD Doc Fellowship, 1in4 Coalition’s writing mentorship program, Blackmagic’s All Access Collective, and the Disability Belongs Entertainment Lab.
Catriona Rubenis-Stevens (she/her) is a multi-award-winning film director and was part of the team that went to the 93rd Academy Awards with the nominated live action short, “Feeling Through.” She has directed several award-winning short films, including the highly decorated “Andy & Kaliope” and the short documentary “HOW MUCH AM I WORTH?” that have both screened across America, and were picked up by streaming platforms.
Notable producing credits include the BBC’s “Houdini’s Diaries,” the MSNBC docuseries “Model America” and A&E Network’s “Greatest of all Time with Laila Ali.” Feature films include “Lost Cos,” “Indigo,” “Americano,” which made its debut at TIFF, and “Regarding Us” which made its world premiere at the Chinese Theater in LA. Both have been acquired for English speaking territories by Gravitas Ventures.
