Unheard

UNHEARD is a powerful UK-based social drama that follows Jay Morgan, a young man finally ready to break his silence about the childhood sexual abuse he endured, not at the hands of a man, but a trusted female youth worker. When he reports the historical assault to the police, he’s met with disbelief and apathy. Told there’s “not enough evidence” and made to feel like the crime isn’t real, Jay spirals between rage and despair. Through a survivor support group and his own raw online testimony, Jay challenges society’s double standards and delivers a defiant message: abuse is abuse,no matter the gender of the perpetrator.

Writer Statement

UNHEARD was born from rage. From hearing story after story of men – especially those abused by women – being laughed at, disbelieved, or ignored when they spoke up. We live in a culture where the idea of a female abuser is often treated as a joke, or worse, a fantasy. I wanted to write something that stripped away that illusion.

This film is not just about abuse – it’s about silence. The kind that creeps in when society refuses to listen. Through Jay’s journey, I wanted to honour the many real-life survivors who feel invisible in a system that wasn’t built to protect them.

As a writer and filmmaker, I believe storytelling should make people uncomfortable when comfort enables injustice. UNHEARD is for every man who was told “lucky you” instead of “I believe you.”

You are not weak. You are not alone. And your truth matters.
