Unbreakable Soul

Young Johanna has to face threats from death of her stepfather, who sexually abused her. She tries to seek help and understanding from her mother, but she is indifferent to the situation; Tired and with no way out, Johanna begins to lacerate her body as an escape route to her suffering, however, reaches a point where this it no longer serves her, so she decides to commit suicide. His plans are frustrated by an unforeseen event that leads her to devise a plan that will end her nightmare and teach her a lesson everyone who hurt him.

Director Biography - Oscar Cruz

Oscar Cruz, is a film director, screenwriter and editor of Dominican nationality. From an early age he has been linked to art, so since the For 14 years, he has been shooting short films.

He has directed and written scripts for short films, documentaries, commercials, as well as music videos. In 2018, Cruz together with producer Leonel Jack formed the audiovisual production company Reflect 7 Studios, a label under which Cruz has released his most recent projects: Tiempo Muerto, Idilio and Alma Inquebrantable, as well as a large number of music videos.

Director Statement

For a time I met some people, who while we talked told me their life story; In them there was a constant: they had been victims of sexual abuse. There were so many people I met under this situation that I reached a point where I stopped and reflected: this is a very serious problem, which many may not notice, but it could be happening with the closest friend or neighbor. In that sense, I realized that as an artist I must raise my voice to serve as a guide to people who go through this horrible event, since a large percentage of them tend to lacerate their bodies and have suicidal thoughts, and this is precisely what that we have wanted to avoid through the message of this cinematographic work entitled Unbreakable Soul.
