Layal is TV journalist, filmmaker and actress/presenter based in Dubai and New York City. She was born in Washington D.C., and has grown up between Dubai and D.C.
After receiving her BA in Media Broadcast from Marymount University she was recruited to work for CBS Television Network at their headquarters in New York City. She covered both national & international stories.
While there, she developed a passion for narrative storytelling and began taking graduate film courses at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and acting classes at the T. Schreiber Studio.
As a storyteller, Layal's vision is to unite & inspire people of all diverse backgrounds through stories that show our common humanity.
Every last one of us knows what it feels like to be different. We have all experienced it, some of us more often and, perhaps, more intensely than others—and we all have a diversity story, even those you might not expect.
New York City is epicenter of multicultural community. My aim with this documentary was to bring awareness to the beauty of diversity, and incorporate a social impact strategy that highlights the societal issues immigrants face in America, as well as inspires viewers to take action.
