With an All-American father and a Central American mother, Sabrina’s home has always been filled with love and culture, from diverse music to cuisine to even humor! Although she admires and takes inspiration from the likes of drama, suspense, and action, her heart yearns to create films that make people of all walks of life and ages feel warm and fuzzy inside. With her love of history, the arts, and learning, Sabrina enrolled in Miami Dade College’s School of Entertainment and Design Technology to pursue filmmaking after years of STEM-focused learning. As a student filmmaker, Sabrina has been able to write, direct, and edit various of her own short films, earn a paid internship with NBCUniversal, and work with numerous industry professionals. An Adobe Professional in Video Design, a freelance graphic designer and motion graphics artist, and a teacher in her church’s children’s ministry, Sabrina has much to look forward now that she has earned her Bachelor’s degree.
Some of my fondest memories growing up was going to the movies with my family and gushing over the shared joy and fantasy a film brought us. Now as a filmmaker, I strive to create films that provide that same space for the next generation of audience members and their loved ones. I wrote UNNESTED right before my older brother (my only sibling) got married and moved out. Seeing how life was slowly changing for all of us in that time sparked the inspiration to write a story about Empty Nest Syndrome. What pushed me even more was the fact that the subject is rarely depicted in entertainment and when it is, the threat of infidelity and divorce always loomed. I wanted my version to be different, to be hopeful and fun for all generations. My parents have supported me so passionately all my life and I've always believed they have a hilarious dynamic so the main characters had to be based off my mom and dad. From our exuberant crew to the wholesome nature of the film, UNNESTED was a joy to create and a joy to watch! It’s a dream come true!
