UHAW (The Boy Who Was Desperate For Love)
"UHAW" (The Boy Who Was Desperate For Love) is a short film about a guy who absolutely feels so much, so much of one thing and everything all at the same time - basically, he's an empath. In this singular moment, we are able to witness the character process and relieve his moment of remembering the last time he felt the "butterflies" while coming to terms with the current pandemic.

Official Selection
Edrian Pangilinan is an aspiring Filipino-American content creator/filmmaker/photographer + dance artist based in San Diego, CA. His work is greatly inspired by his press for representation as a brown, filipino and lgbtq+ human. He intends on pursuing his dream of becoming a filmmaker focusing on LGBTQ+ related themes that challenge the status quo AND initiate dialogues necessary for change.
On his journey to cultivating his artistic voice, In 2016, his short film, “Lei E' Bella” was featured in 40 North Dance Film Festival where his work was one of the top 36 films chosen amongst 106 submissions from 19 different countries. In 2017, he completed his LGBT short of three years, “Hey Man” a romantic comedy film about one’s discovery of self-love. While also completing, “Flight” for the Campus Movie Festival later that year. Another LGBT film greatly inspired by a deep-rooted place of loneliness and his yearning for companionship and connection (as of Oct 2020, Flight has been viewed over 105,000 times on YouTube.). His most recent short film, "UHAW" (The Boy Who Was Desperate For Love) has earned him his very first "Outstanding LGBTQ+ Filmmaker" award, chosen by Hollywood actor/director, Anthony Meindl at the recent Asian American Film Lab's 72-Hour Shootout 2020.
Edrian is extremely grateful to have found a family & community in San Diego Filipino Cinema in which he receives so much love + support through guidance and mentorship. It is because of this, that he has finally began to have the confidence to full embrace this creative path.
When he is not making films, you can find him on YouTube (EDRIAN PANGILINAN), being 1/3 of "The FilAm Film Collective (along with close friends Marissa Roxas and Trixi Agaio) and pigging out on his favorite comfort foods while binging on his BL (Boy Love) dramas.
I didn't realize that "UHAW" was a story that needed to be told until I decided to just film, execute and submit to the ASAM LAB SHOOTOUT (in which it was eventually awarded the very first inaugural, "Outstanding LGBTQ+ Filmmaker") It was not until this moment that I realized these kinds of stories are meant to be shared and not be forever be hidden away in a journal/computer notes. Lastly, being someone who is a 1st-gen Filipino American, my relationship and views on love, I feel like has always been unique and special to me hence really motivating me to create and tell these kinds of tender yet relatable stories.
