Director Statement

The concept of “Twofold Happiness” was born from a lively discussion between me and writer Ellen Tremiti. We asked each other what our greatest fears were, and we found much to discuss regarding the difficulties of keeping a marriage together, particularly a couple of years after the honeymoon stage wears off. (And of course we wanted to throw a supernatural monster into the mix!) We wanted to see what would happen when a young couple—whose marriage is falling apart—are forced to openly deal with their budding romantic feelings for someone else.
What are people capable of when they are forced to decide between their partner for life, and the person they actually have feelings for at the moment? What kind of situation can arise that makes someone contemplate murdering the one they love — or choosing to fight for them? The supernatural monster’s purpose is to help our married couple find out.
