ARG! Cartoon Animation Studio was founded by Artie Romero, who has worked in comic books and animation since the 1970s. He has screen credits on four movies, six TV series and one PBS TV movie. Before entering the animation industry as a director, Romero worked as a comic book artist, editor and publisher.
While studying art at Missouri State University, Romero edited and published Realm, an acclaimed comics and science fiction fanzine. In 1973 he moved to Colorado Springs and co-founded Everyman Studios, an artists' collective that published alternative newspapers and underground comix. In 1981, Artie converted the studio to commercial animation production, including movie titles and effects, music videos, TV commercials, video games and software. The studio converted to digital production in 1991 and was renamed ARG! Cartoon Animation in 1994.
Artie.com was launched in July, 1996, and quickly became one of the most popular animation sites on the Web. In 2005-2006, the site got one billion hits in a period of just 20 months.
Artie continues to work full-time as the top producer and director at ARG! In 2018, the studio relocated their official site to www.ArtieStick.com.
The Nigerian TV series Adventures of Turtle Taido was created and written by Muyiwa Kayode, and he also supervised the music, the actors' voice performances and the character design work in Lagos. The shows were all storyboarded and animated at our U.S. studios under my supervision.
Before the third season went into production, I selected this special episode to create a director's cut. Thus, with Mr. Kayode's approval, I completed this film in April, 2020.
